1. Professor: This week we have been looking at how hospitals are adopting new technology. Many hospitals now use artificial intelligence to read scans, identify patients whose condition may be getting worse, and suggest possible treatments. Supporters say these tools make care faster and more accurate. Critics worry about trusting software with decisions that affect people's lives. Before our next class, I'd like you to post your view: Should hospitals rely on AI to help make decisions about patient care? Why or why not? Kenji: I think they should. Software can compare a scan with millions of earlier cases in seconds, and in some trials it has spotted early signs of disease that doctors missed. This matters most in rural areas, where patients may wait weeks to see a specialist. A system that flags urgent cases could save lives there. Priya: I'm more cautious. An AI system learns from the data it is given, so if certain groups of patients were underrepresented in that data, its suggestions for them may be less accurate. Also, good treatment decisions depend on things a computer can't easily measure, like a patient's wishes or family situation. Write a response to the discussion. Contribute your own idea and respond to the points made.
