Four people talk about working from home

Working from home: benefits, challenges, and advice

Marta

When my company offered remote work, I accepted immediately. I’m naturally enthusiastic about having more control of my day: I can start early, take a proper lunch break, and even do a short workout without wasting time commuting. The surprise was how much I missed casual conversations. At first, I felt disconnected, as if I was doing tasks for a machine rather than for a team. Now we have a short video call every morning, which helps. I also recommend creating a clear workspace. I tried working from the sofa and my back complained after a week, so I invested in a basic chair and it made a huge difference. My main concern is that people think working from home is ‘easy’. I actually work more hours unless I set a firm finish time and switch my laptop off.
